1997 we began the development of a completely customized booking system for
Wallmans Salonger in Stockholm. The system was built as a complete integrated
system to fulfill all the needs on the booking office. All steps in the
workflow from booking of the companies, food ordering, table settings, sending
the confirmations, menus and all other information for the customers, kitchen,
bar and waiters. We also had to fulfill the specific requirements from Wallmans
Nöjens unique demands of the table settings, where tables can be split and
moved around in the locale for the customers to get the best views over the
scenes. The system was installed 1997 on Wallmans Salonger Stockholm, Golden Hits,
Engelen and Strix. When Wallmans Salonger in Malmö opened in 1998 and Wallmans
Salonger in Oslo in 2000, the system was installed on these locations also. At
the Stockholm booking office over 100 companies are booked daily and over 250
reports are faxed and sent every day.
The
system is a client / server based solutions, clients and report generators was
developed with Borland Delphi. The database is a Microsoft SQL Server 7.0,
running on a Windows NT Server 4.0. The server wheel "Wwheel"
constantly reads the queue of reports from the database and creates the reports with help of Seagate Crystal Reports and Microsoft Word. The finished reports
are then printed or queued for faxing in Optus FacSys. The system is in constant
development following the increase in needs of Wallmans Nöjen. We are currently
working on integrating the booking system with a customer management system and
internet booking.
